Globdev (Corruption)

As a citizen of a third-world country, corruption is no new news. Corruption can be seen almost everywhere-in the people living in poverty or the policemen  who might have pulled you over even though there was no violation to begin with. The primary task of the new administration is to eliminate corruption. But what is at stake? It seems there might be no progress in the status of the country ever since the new administration began. Could corruption be associated with development? Some official may be corrupt, but their projects are evident to the people, therefore, they would be a guaranteed winner in the elections. The smartest of the politicians are the ones who know how to get funds, and the new entries are corrupted by the system, even if they entered the scene with the best intentions. What do people really want to do with corruption? It is an issue that is purely black, but the reactions towards it is gray.

globdev (international organizations)

The purpose of international organizations is to implement collective security. The first attempt on so is the League of Nations after the first world war. However, it did not succeed. After the second world war, the international community was more serious in forming an international organization that centers on collective security. It is a good idea in forming so, if states wishes to live peacefully among each other. As more organizations are formed, more problems occur. Take the WTO, for example. It focuses on trade liberalization. It may be an advantage to developed countries, but not so much for LDC's. The small business of LDC's may shut down, because of the entrance of foreign and multinational corporations if the markets have been liberalized fully. So, are international organizations all for the good? If so, they have to set better policies to achieve stability in the international community.

Video for Operation Smile

The video seems like an ordinary slideshow. I wanted it that way to show my love for movies even though it does not seem like it was made by a professional.

Globdev (poverty)

Poverty is one issue that is hard to fight. The economy might be growing, but more people are experiencing poverty. I realized that i was also experiencing poverty-eating rice with soy sauce or salt-just to save money for other expenses. Can the problem with poverty be solved by implementing the proper policies? The government has made bad choices when it comes to preventing poverty. Only a few feeding programs have been sponsored by the government today. How can they just let the people go hungry, and spend millions of pesos on campaign ads for elections? Some government officials just sleep during office. If this were the case, it would be better not to vote in the next elections.

Globdev (movement)

It is for sure that there is movement in the country, because of lack of jobs. Without OFW's the country would be in a worse state. Their remittances are needed for a sound money supply. However, will the country ever be more successful if the professionals are not here to work? Brain Drain is common among Filipinos. For the Filipinos who do not want to help the country by returning and working for it, can they be really called heroes? They cannot just forget and ridicule it for lack of opportunities. What makes it worse is that people are pushed to do illegal acts just to generate enough income. Human trafficking is still evident today, and Filipinos, especially women and children, are the number one victims. Economic problems may be one big reason for movement. This is where the opportunity lies. There must be a restructuring in the system to actually stop movement in worse cases.
