Recently, I have done a survey on the RH Bill. The survey consisted the main issues regarding the bill, such as contraceptives, protection from STDs, and abortion. Based on the results of the survey, every respondent agrees with the passing of the RH Bill regarding contraceptives and its other purposes, which is to prevent STD's as much as possible. This may reflect that the students here at DLSU, even if they are from different colleges, have a modern way of thinking when it comes to population control and safe sex.
Abortion is not included in the RH Bill. However, there have been reports that it might be added in the future. Regarding this issue, I asked respondents what they have thought of it in general. Most of the respondents are quite open to abortion, but the proper reasons must be needed. For example, if the mother is no longer strong enough to bear children, and it could be life-threatening if she pushed through with the pregnancy. Then, abortion is needed to save the life of the mother. Plus, for those who want abortion, in my opinion, it is their choice to do what they want with their body. Since the government is an institution that must provide services to its citizens, abortion should be legalized for those who want it.
Another issue presented in the survey is a child's right to sex education. All of the respondents agreed with this reason. There are cases today in which that a person has no knowledge in issues related to intercourse. Sometimes, he or she would not understand the effects of what he or she may have done. People must be knowledgeable in this issue, because it is a natural part of life, and not knowing the possible effects could lead to serious consequences. People must be open to different scenarios regarding this topic.

Globdev (aids)
It is World Aids Day, and it is common to hear news about the disease. Five of every Filipino have been testing HIV positive every day. Two HIV AIDS victims have shared their stories on how they caught the virus. Two of them were OFW's. The first one did not really enjoy using a condom during his sexcapades while he was still working abroad. The other one was gang raped by five men in Saudi Arabia, I supposed. Catching the disease is bad, and what makes it worse is to be discriminated by others. The Philippines wishes to reduce the number of AIDS victims by 2015. It seems that the number is increasing instead. The government must give off proper education on the disease, or it is also left to the people to learn about it. It is a serious case, and should not be taken lightly. The WHO stated that the reason why more Filipinos have been affected by HIV AIDS is the lack of education on the disease and that condoms are not accessible. If the people are afraid of the church, the pope already promoted condoms.

Globdev (Corruption)
As a citizen of a third-world country, corruption is no new news. Corruption can be seen almost everywhere-in the people living in poverty or the policemen who might have pulled you over even though there was no violation to begin with. The primary task of the new administration is to eliminate corruption. But what is at stake? It seems there might be no progress in the status of the country ever since the new administration began. Could corruption be associated with development? Some official may be corrupt, but their projects are evident to the people, therefore, they would be a guaranteed winner in the elections. The smartest of the politicians are the ones who know how to get funds, and the new entries are corrupted by the system, even if they entered the scene with the best intentions. What do people really want to do with corruption? It is an issue that is purely black, but the reactions towards it is gray.

globdev (international organizations)
The purpose of international organizations is to implement collective security. The first attempt on so is the League of Nations after the first world war. However, it did not succeed. After the second world war, the international community was more serious in forming an international organization that centers on collective security. It is a good idea in forming so, if states wishes to live peacefully among each other. As more organizations are formed, more problems occur. Take the WTO, for example. It focuses on trade liberalization. It may be an advantage to developed countries, but not so much for LDC's. The small business of LDC's may shut down, because of the entrance of foreign and multinational corporations if the markets have been liberalized fully. So, are international organizations all for the good? If so, they have to set better policies to achieve stability in the international community.

Globdev (poverty)
Poverty is one issue that is hard to fight. The economy might be growing, but more people are experiencing poverty. I realized that i was also experiencing poverty-eating rice with soy sauce or salt-just to save money for other expenses. Can the problem with poverty be solved by implementing the proper policies? The government has made bad choices when it comes to preventing poverty. Only a few feeding programs have been sponsored by the government today. How can they just let the people go hungry, and spend millions of pesos on campaign ads for elections? Some government officials just sleep during office. If this were the case, it would be better not to vote in the next elections.

Globdev (movement)
It is for sure that there is movement in the country, because of lack of jobs. Without OFW's the country would be in a worse state. Their remittances are needed for a sound money supply. However, will the country ever be more successful if the professionals are not here to work? Brain Drain is common among Filipinos. For the Filipinos who do not want to help the country by returning and working for it, can they be really called heroes? They cannot just forget and ridicule it for lack of opportunities. What makes it worse is that people are pushed to do illegal acts just to generate enough income. Human trafficking is still evident today, and Filipinos, especially women and children, are the number one victims. Economic problems may be one big reason for movement. This is where the opportunity lies. There must be a restructuring in the system to actually stop movement in worse cases.

globdev (media)
The society today seems to be living in a liberal sense. The media does its job in informing the people and keeping an eye on the government. The government, as well, takes advantage of the media. It is now a medium for them to send news to the people. With what happened in the hostage crisis at Quirino, has the idea of "keeping people informed" gone too far? Some media men are in heat, because of the part they played that cost the lives of some of the victims. Should there be a limit to their dedication? Was the outcome of the event specifically their fault, because of lack of better judgment or the lack of the implementation of rules by the government? Mediamen should also focus on the quality of their work. It seems that hardcore news has become showbiz news. Many headlines have been edited by the broadcasting stations. If so, there is no truth in the media in this country.
